It’s been a long time since we updated. Just wanted to fill you all in on a new project we’re working on.

Oasis has been thinking of the best way to launch our new company and have decided that the publication of a magazine would be the way to showcase the new, fresh talent we find to the public. Then we had to decide: what kind of format would be best. There are plenty of magazines already out there, full of flashy artwork, “thought-provoking” articles, and pages and pages of advertising.

Our goal at Oasis is to showcase the authors and artists, so we have decided, in using a magazine to launch our company, that simplicity is best.

In the style of periodicals produced in the days of the “great authors” – Dickens, Wells, Austen – Oasis Magazine will be driven by that solid principle. Our magazine, which will be published six times a year, will consist of the following:

1. Short Stories, no more than four per issue
2. Serialized fiction, no more than two per issue
3. A small networking classified section – entirely for and by the writing/artistic community
4. Occasional Letters from the Editors
5. Artwork, when available.

That’s all. Our focus is on you.

Oasis Magazine will be available in both downloadable and hard copy formats. Currently, we are determining the most beneficial price point for the magazine and for the submitters.

There is only one thing that is missing in our equation: YOU.

We need submissions. Short, long, or in between, we will evaluate all. All have a chance at publication. All have a chance to earn royalties for each issue sold. And here is the important part – all authors and artists submitting work for publication in the magazine will retain the copyrights to their work. For the magazine, we publish with permission. If you publish in Oasis Magazine and, albeit regrettably, decide to take your work elsewhere, you retain your rights. That also gives you the option to publish a serialized work with the Magazine and publish later with us as a complete novelization.

Coming soon to our new website will be more information, plus download-able templates for submissions.

And we've been thinking...

How would you guys feel about a small publication (read: Magazine) of short stories and artwork? If we can get some submissions, we can actually put it into publication.

I would say that we need about 5 to 10 short stories (10K - 20K words), and about 5 pieces of artwork (one which will be the cover art of the first issue).

Please send your writing submissions to oasis.publications@gmail.com in manuscript format. Send your artwork submissions as .png or .gif or .jpg format.

Back with another sort-of weekly update!

First, a welcome to the new members of the oaisiscall community; zuma, magic_dream_man and holde_maid. Look forward to seeing some excerpts of your work soon!

Working on compiling copy for a website, which is turning out to be a longer process than originally planned -- basically because we want everything to be exactly right! We're also looking for an artist to volunteer to make us a logo, so if anyone is interested, please email us at oasis.publications@gmail.com. Ah, the joys of small business... slow and steady with the start-up as usual!

Just a note for those of you who are already members: if you have any works ready for publication, please don't be shy. Go ahead and post an exceprt. The faster we get new writers and artists, the faster we can get off the ground and running toward our goal of seeing quality, new works in print. This is a rather unique way to find people, but we feel that it's time to jump "out of the box" and try a new way.

As well, if any more questions come to mind about our company and what we are going to offer, please don't hesitate to ask.

Just to make sure that the community remains active and jumping, the editors are going to be posting a weekly update.

This week's update is going to be fairly simple: Just a wave to the new members, a hello to those who are keeping an eye on us (we see you!) and an encouragement for those members who are ready to start posting! Don't be bashfu; dip your toe in and lets start this ball rolling!

If you have any further questions that weren't answered in the info page, or in this post, feel free to post here.

We look forward to seeing what you all have to offer!

Any questions? (The reasonable variety; not the ludicrous "What is the meaning of life?" or "Why is the clock?" stuff. Something I could actually answer.)

Just a quick note to welcome the new members to the community. You have also been added to the friend's list of oasispubs, which is the journal where most information about the company will be posted.

As always, if you have any questions about posting your work or anything else, feel free to post here or email at oasis.publications@gmail.com.

Look forward to seeing your work soon!
